Self-Care & Stress

Being a VISTA comes with a whole host of stressors, limited budgets, moving to a new place, entering a new professional workplace, etc.. Self-care is more than just making sure you don't collapse due to stress. It's a commitment to recognizing what you do to take care of yourself, and being deliberate and thoughtful in protecting those activities and rituals, whatever they may be. Self-care is also highly individualized, what works for one person may not for another. The resources below are a great way to start your self-care journey!

What Self-Care Is - And What It Isn't:

Most of us know what self-care is, but knowing what self-care is not might be even more important. It is not something that we force ourselves to do, or something we don’t enjoy doing. As Agnes Wainman explained, self-care is “something that refuels us, rather than takes from us.”

Gratitude Journals:
The short article discusses how to set up a gratitude journal, and why keeping one may be one of the keys to happiness.
